The portion sizes were decent and the food was prepared fresh. It is run by what is clear to be authentic Chinese cooks who have brought the taste of home to Rothes, I always order a staple Chinese dish as a baseline test. This place gets. 5* for delivering a above average Szechuan chicken in both size and taste Very high quality and a treasure to find in a little nook like Rothes. Would recommend if you are staying nearby (If ordering Szechuan by my personal suggestion please be aware this is a Chinese orient dish and is very spicy, as it is made from a specific chili known as the Szechuan chili)

Place is called 517 it’s take away food, cash only. Open 6 days a week, close on Tuesday. Nice clean place. Very friendly staff. Food is fresh, hot and very tasty ! We take away already 10 different meals, all very testy. For sure we will come back.

Was looking for some Chinese food and found this on the web. It’s called Martin’s kitchen online but has a big sign saying 517 Chinese Takeaway so I was a little disappointed. Was hoping for a sit down meal but this was takeaway only. The Chinese lady was friendly and let us park ourselves at a side counter to eat. She even offered to bring out an extraction for our fourth person, and gave us her last 4 disposable chopsticks from her private stash! We had the Beef Chow Mien (5⭐), sweet and sour pork (5⭐), mixed veggies (3⭐), prawn omelette (5⭐), and some rice. The “Wok Hei” or “Wok breath” was infused in everything, which made the food so more-ish we actually finished it all! Portions were generous, and she threw in some crackers and fried spring rolls. Rothes may be a small town on the way to the distilleries but if your in the area and hankering for Chinese takeaway, this gets my vote! In all honesty, we spoke in Chinese to the lady, so it may have helped!
